Online roulette just does something special. Nothing screams classic casino more than the wheel of numbers and colours and the little ball that, along with the wheel, is set in motion to find a winner. Roulette is a game with a long, interesting history. Originally, the game originated in France, where it dates back to the late 1700s.
Before that, there were a number of games that inspired the version we know so well today. In the early years, roulette was mainly played by the upper classes. That picture has certainly changed today, when roulette has gone a long way towards becoming the German game. In particular, online roulette has made it easy and straightforward to enjoy a game anytime, anywhere.
An absolute advantage of roulette is that it is an easy game where most people can join in. The rules of the game are simple, which means you don’t have to spend oceans of time learning the rules when you want to get started with online roulette. Types of online roulette
There are several types of online roulette games. Of these, you can play French, European, American, multi-wheel and live roulette.
French and European roulette
French and European online roulette have many similarities. The two types of roulette have the same wheel, which means that the wheel consists of 37 squares. 18 squares are red, 18 squares are black and one square is green with the digit zero. The table top in French roulette differs slightly from the European version. Where the European board has black squares and English text, the French one has green squares and French text. This is about appearance and does not have an impact on the game as such. In European roulette, you lose your bet if the ball hits zero. In French roulette, it looks different. Here, the ‘en prison’ rule kicks in, meaning you get to ‘jail’ your bet until the next round. This means you don’t lose your bet, but you can use it in the next round. If the ball hits zero in the second round, you lose the bet. If you win in the second round, you win what you bet in the first round. In French roulette, you will also encounter the rule ‘la partage’, which allows you to get half of your bet back on an outside bet if the ball lands on zero.
American roulette
American roulette has the numbers placed quite differently and has even added an extra number to the wheel; 00. This means that this version features two zeros on the wheel, of which the house has a greater advantage as the chance of winning is smaller. In short, many players prefer the European and French version to the American one.
Multi-wheel roulette
Multi-wheel roulette is a popular online form of roulette which allows you to spin multiple wheels at the same time. Usually, this type of roulette allows you to play on as many as eight reels at a time.
Live roulette
Live roulette is a version of online roulette and the roulette you know from land-based casinos. Here you play with real dealers and in real time.

How to play online roulette
To start playing online roulette, simply select the fields you want to play on. Then place your chips on the board. You can choose between inside or outside bets, and the wheel will start spinning and you will win if the ball lands on your squares. Conversely, if the ball does not land on your squares, you lose your bet. Inside bets usually pay larger but smaller payouts. Here you bet on numbers on the central part of the game board. Outside bets, on the other hand, offer a higher chance of winning but a lower payout. Here you bet on dozens, columns and even chance bets. This means red/black, even/odd and high/low numbers.
James Bond Strategy
Another popular strategy is the James Bond system. This strategy requires you to place fractions of bets on different numbers, which can be, for example, 70 kr on high numbers (19-36), 25 kr on the six line covering numbers 13-18 and 5 kr on zero. This bet works as long as your split bets remain the same and gives you 81.5% chance of winning on each spin.
Finally, colours and columns is also a classic strategy that requires you to place a bet on a column with 8 red numbers as well as a bet on red. This covers a third of the reel. If your 2-1 column bet doesn’t go home, you still have a 47% chance of winning on red and thus ending up with the money back.
Strategies in roulette
In roulette, there are a number of strategies. These include Martingale, Grand Martingale, Fibonacci, D’Alembert, Labouchere and Paroli. That said, roulette is very much about chance. You can work on your strategies, but in the end, it’s chance that controls the outcome of the game.
